Redesigning Keep Fluent

Initially an app that connected transport services with older adults, KeepFluent is currently a resource guide connecting individuals seeking help with non-profit organizations and private service providers.

KeepFluent places a focus on cultural awareness and identity to ensure individuals are connected with their resources on a personal level.

Research and Overview

Research Insights

Due to time limit and limitations for recruitment, we focused our initial research on individuals seeking services. We interviewed a total of 5 individuals who have previously searched for services for their parents who are non-native speakers. We also interviewed two people from NGOs, who previously had experience sharing their resources and events online. Although the emphasis of the research was on individuals seeking services, insight was also gathered for the design process from the mentioned NGO executives. Below is the affinity mapping exercise done by the team to organize the data from interview results.

Meet Sammy Gonzalez

Sammy is a dedicated and compassionate daughter who finds herself in the challenging role of a caregiver. Her 86-years-old mother is facing health issues associated with aging such as limited mobility & cognitive decline. Due to her recent promotion to marketing manager and having a family to take care of, Sammy is struggling to balance all of her caregiving responsibilities. She has turned to Keep Fluent to seek resources to alleviate her caregiver responsibilites.

AAA Accessibility Guidelines

Based on user feedback from our wireframe usability test, we reformatted the categories in the header and want to test if this version was intuitive to users.

Due to time constraints, we were unable to build out the provider-facing side of KeepFluent’s site. We plan to focus on redesigning this in the future.

As Keep Fluent serves multi-cultural communities, we want to reach AAA conformance for any translated text on KeepFluent’s website, similar to UNAIDs’ current website.

Nice to see you here!
